Conceptual phase — defining directions

The Foundation's first months were dedicated to conceptual work — mapping the needs of cultural institutions, local governments and local communities. The five areas of activity were identified: culture, education, digitisation, AI, cybersecurity.

First AI restoration — a turning point

First attempts at colourisation and renovation of old family photographs using AI methods. It is from this craft of restoring individual photos that the idea of digital resilience of heritage grew.

Digitisation standards — beginning of the work

Start of systematic work on digital archival standards for small institutions: resolution, metadata, OCR of archival handwriting, backup copies.

First conversations with institutional partners

Working meetings with representatives of regional museums, state archives and local governments. Recognising the real needs and implementation barriers on the side of public institutions.

Open consultations with local cultural leaders, historians and witnesses of history. Emergence of initiatives I·04 (Talking Archive) and I·05 (Map of Polish Wood).

First version of the manifesto — working document

Formulation of 12 programme theses as an internal working document. Consultations with the Foundation's programme council and the first critical review of the premises.

International dimension — the Polish-diaspora initiative

Preliminary conversations with foreign partners. Identification of the need for a mobile restoration studio for the archives of the Polish diaspora. Birth of initiative I·06 (Polonia Memoriae).

Publication of the Foundation's manifesto

The manifesto of the Tradition & Innovation Foundation and its twelve programme theses have been published as an open document. Core of identity: digital resilience of heritage.

The new FTI portal presents the full scope of activity: seven programme initiatives, the technology stack, the partnership model and the history of Polish digital heritage.

Planned start of the pilot programme preserving historical testimonies. Mobile recording crew + AI transcription + involvement of pupils as interviewers. Recruitment of partner municipalities and schools from the start of Q3.
